TWIN FLAMES

In celebration of National Indigenous Peoples Day the Regent Theatre in association with Prince Edward Public Library are pleased to present multi-award winning Indigenous folk duo Twin Flames on June 24th at 2PM.

Husband and wife duo Jaaji & Chelsey June, of Nunavut and Ottawa respectively, combine traditional Indigenous story-telling and music with western harmonies to entertain and audiences of all ages.
 

Twin Flames melds different styles and genres because the artists believe music can help create a feeling of unity and collaboration between different cultures.

They perform original songs written in English, Inuttitut and French about courage and survival which honour their ancestor’s and cultural history. Their award-winning music offers a unique blend of different musical styles and traditions. Twin Flames have released three full length albums and been nominated for 25 music awards.
 

The 60 minute Twin Flames concert will take place June 24, 2023 at 2 p.m. at the Regent Theatre and will be followed by a Q&A with the artists.

This concert will feature an introduction by Grandmother Kathy Brant a Haudenosaunee (grandparent), and Traditional teacher and mentor, from Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory from the Bear Clan who are known as medicine people. 

She was taught by Elders from Six Nations, Kahnawake, Akwesasne and Anishnawbe Elders from Treaty Three area where she spent 7 years. Grandmother Kathy believes it is a privilege to pass on the teachings of the Great Law of Peace and teach how to bring those concepts of philosophy, wellbeing, respect, and living in balance with all the elements of Creation.

Presented live to family audiences and live-streamed to those unable to attend in-person. The event is supported by County Museums which will be offering an exhibit on the indigenous history of PEC between 10 AM  - 4PM on June 24th.
