How can we actively evoke states of creative flow using the body? In this relaxed workshop, we’ll learn to bypass static and noise, tune into our sensory awareness, and infuse the act of putting words on paper, or other artistic work, with new resonance and power.

You’ll explore the link between the body/nervous system and creativity through slow, gentle movements and breathing (yoga and Feldenkrais method) and writing exercises. You’ll also gain daily rituals for going deeply into your creative flow with less struggle and more pleasure and productivity.

All are welcome. No writing or movement experience required—though those with a writing/art/movement practice likely will benefit most. Bring your yoga mat or sit in the chairs provided. You’ll also need your favourite writing tools (writing by hand suggested).

Bio: Kirsteen MacLeod writes and teaches movement in Katarokwi—Kingston, Ont. She will be poet-in-residence at the Al Purdy A-frame in Ameliasburgh in October 2023. Her work was a finalist for the 2021 CBC Poetry Prize and Arc Poetry's 2020 Poem of the Year, and she’s just completed her first poetry manuscript. Kirsteen is the author of In Praise of Retreat (nonfiction), a gold Independent Publishers’ Book Award winner, and The Animal Game (short stories).

Capacity of 15, register early.
